Synopsis:
After fives long years of running away from home, from his brother’s murder, from his father’s grief, Loong is a tired man. He’s been running away from the streets of Hong Kong to the beaches of Mozambique, where he now lives a quiet life as a fisherman. But when the past proves important enough, it will never let you go.
It was great to work with Marcus again on this teaser trailer before leaving for Busan. Many thanks to Jen Nee (producer), Alfred (gaffer) and all the production team/crew!

48
April 26, 2011
It was in 2001 that Royston Tan directed the film ‘48 on Aids‘. Interviewing 48 individuals from all walks of life, the film explored issues about debunking the stigma and discrimination of HIV infected people in society. We have just wrapped principal filming of the new documentary, ’48′, which is a sequel to the 2001 film. I would like to thank all the interviewees who took the courage, time and effort in lending a voice for a good clause. The production team is currently not at any liberty to reveal more about the project, which will be presented on World Aids Day, 1st December.
With the initial film picking up a Best Cinematography award at the Asian Television Awards 2002, it is indeed a challenge to try my best in maintaining the high standard set by Director of Photography, Md Sharif Bangi. Once again, it is always an enriching experience to work closely with director Victric Thng (having previously worked together in ‘Old Places‘). Victric is a very strong visual artist himself and coupled with the great cinematography of the former film, I hope this current work will live up to expectations. I would like to thank Royston and Victric for giving me the opportunity to work on this project. Last but not least, it would not have been possible without the help of the following people:
Many Thanks To:
Producer Karen Khoo
Camera Assistants Juan Qi An, Joel Heng & Jean
Soundman James Choong
Driver Chan
More details on the screening of the film soon.

One of the many location recces with Victric...
Beautiful Sibu
September 25, 2010
Visited Sibu recently to recce for a video project. Although it is a small town, it was great hospitality which we received from the largely Foochow community. It was also a first time to taste famous Sibu dishes such as “Gam Mua” noodle (干盘面), “Bian Nyuk“(扁肉, also called wanton, 雲吞) and “Gom bian” (光饼).
We visited a log pond where the company built residential houses for the workers. There were such adorable kids playing when we arrived! Couldn’t help but took pictures of them…

Due to the great response of the debut screening on 8th August, Okto channel will be having an encore telecast of OLD PLACES on the 24th of August at 9pm. OLD PLACES is produced by Chuan Pictures, directed by Royston Tan, Victric Thng and Eva Tang, and features the voices of Singaporeans as they recall their memories of disappearing places in Singapore.
Civic Life Blog Writer Ng Yi-Sheng interviews Royston Tan, executive producer and co-director of the film, about his work and personal memories. Read about it here.
SINdie’s Jeremy Sng also has an article on the project here.
It was a tough shoot but also, a most memorable experience to work with 3 directors that had their individual styles. I will be posting about the shoot soon. Many thanks to all who have helped!
